United Arab Emirates: Do you want to apply for a Golden Visa but aren’t sure if you qualify for one of the several categories?

You can apply for a long-term residency permit if you are a skilled professional in the UAE with a legitimate employment contract and meet the required salary guidelines.

Foreign professionals, investors, and students with exceptional academic performance can live, work, and study in the UAE on a self-sponsored visa thanks to the Golden Visa, a 10-year residency permit. The long-term residency visa allows the visa holders to sponsor their relatives as well.

What should my salary will be?

You will need to submit a salary certificate showing either a Dh30,000 salary or a Dh50,000 salary, depending on whatever category of Golden Visa you are seeking. This is because while the wage minimum for professionals seeking a Golden Visa is Dh30,000, executive directors asking for a Golden Visa must have a salary of at least Dh50,000

Both of these groups have different further criteria, such as educational prerequisites and work-related documentation. Here is a summary:

Golden visa for professionals with a salary of Dh30,000

You must meet the following requirements in order to be qualified to apply for a Golden Visa in this category:

  • The applicants should have a valid employment contract in the UAE.
  • They should be classified in the first or second occupational level, as per the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) classification.
  • The minimum educational level must be a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • The monthly salary should not be less than Dh30,000.

Golden visa for Executive Directors with a salary of Dh50,000

  • A copy of a university degree accredited by the Ministry of Education (MOE) with an educational qualification not less than a bachelor’s degree.
  • A letter of experience of no less than five years holding the same position.
  • A salary certificate with a salary of at least Dh50,000.
  • A valid work contract.

Can I still apply for a Golden Visa if I can’t meet the salary requirement?

If you are not eligible to apply for a Golden Visa as a professional or executive director, and you do not have an investment in a firm or property, you may still be eligible for a Golden Visa if you fall into certain profession categories. Doctors permitted to practice in the UAE, for example, or engineers with the relevant qualifications and work permits can apply for a Golden Visa. You may also be eligible for a Golden Visa if you have demonstrated remarkable achievement in certain sectors, such as art or humanitarian activities.
